I live in a tiny home
with a cluttered living room and a makeshift dining
with a cramped kitchen and a much smaller bath
with a small hallway and small doors.
A tiny, tiny home.
And so I wish for space
to dance and twirl, without falling over chairs,
to learn to cartwheel, somersault
to grow from two to three.
I wish for space
to plant my books in shelves, not stairs,
to hang paintings on walls, not rest on floors,
to tango and to waltz.
I wish for space
to grace our home with greens and florals,
to fill our home with nature,
to calm our home with buds and blooms.
(can I throw in a wish for a green thumb too?)
But it’s not all bad.
You see,
I live in a tiny home
with huge windows and high ceilings
with booming laughter and funny stories
with lots of smiles and tight embraces.
A tiny home, big on love.
And so I wish for space
to exchange laughter with friends
to share meals with family
to grow, to dance, to open my arms wider
to share and spread the love
because, you see
The more room you have for love,
the more love you can share with others.
And in our tiny, tiny home,
we have a lot of love to give.

Great writing, btw.

December 15, 2007 at 9:37 pm (16 years ago)Nice bit of writing Toni and what I like most about it is that it’s so you. I believe I would have been able to pick this one out as yours if you jumbled it with works of other authors.
You’ve really developed your own style. Awesome.=)
