Thank you and some shoutouts!

Thank you so much for all the warm words and positivity! They warm my heart (and Timmy’s too!)!

Thank you to the blogging Moms who’ve so kindly shared advice on taking care of myself and the baby. Special shoutouts to the Plurkers. 😉

To my friends who are TTC (trying to conceive), there is hope! When H and I stopped planning several years ago and just “planned to not plan,” it was a great break for my body from medication and emotional stress. People kept telling me the baby would come “in God’s time.” I believe that now. I don’t think anyone’s 100% ready for a baby, but we sure are more ready for Timmy’s arrival than we were years ago. Miracles do happen.

*****

I have a bunch of food posts on the backburner but believe it or not, I can’t stand the pictures! It’s weird, I know, but the sight of food makes me want to hurl. The food posts will have to wait! I’ll publish them soon.

*****

I’m at work right now, fighting nausea and the urge to lie down. This reminds me of what my grandma said when I told her I was pregnant:

Grandma: “… and don’t make sudden moves! Carry yourself well.”
Me: “Yes, Maymee.”
Grandma: “And Toni?”
Me: “Yes?”
Grandma: “If you can leave work, leave work.”

I’m sure she didn’t mean leave work for the day since I wasn’t at work when I told her… Heehee. Pregnancy and the careerwoman — just another thing I’ll learn to adjust to!

*****

Cravings! I craved for Bistek Tagalog a lot last week. Thanks to my Dad who drove all the way to Batangas to get the Batangas Bistek I craved for, heehee. Awww, cheers to the love of fathers (and grandfathers!). Other than Bistek, I haven’t been craving for anything in particular. I do know that I hate tuna, fried chicken, the aroma of garlic and cheese pizza.

*****

Thank you again for all the prayers and the warm wishes. I’ll have the regular food updates up and running soon. And yes, pregnancy updates too! I happily continue to take my wifely steps, but even more eagerly begin my momly steps. :)

Hi! I frequently lurk here as I enjoy reading your blogs. I have to de-lurk though to congratulate you on your pregnancy. I want to second what you said – TTC takes so much out of you physically and emotionally. It is when you stop trying that you get pregnant. It happened to me. I got pregnant for the first time…are you ready for this…16 years after getting married! I was in denial at first because it was totally unexpected…i took 2 pregnancy tests and although both are positive, i waited until my OB saw the gestational sac before i became 100% convinced. I have PCOS (poly-cystic ovaries) and have stopped all medication for more than 10 years so I still am poly-cystic. I was 39 when I gave birth (am 41 now) and my pregnancy was very smooth. I was working out in the gym up until my 8th month. My total weight gain was only 20 lbs and I got back to my pre-pregnancy weight on the day I left the hospital. I gained some of it back though when I stopped breastfeeding 😉 Anyway, hope my story inspire your other readers who might be trying to conceive and are losing hope.

Again, CONGRATS! And again, I can’t believe I am so behind on this amazing news of yours. HUGS ALL AROUND! How far along are you?!?! I am so thrilled and happy for both of you! This means when I do go to the Philippines, I can finally meet you AND YOUR BEBE!

just to throw out there: http://www.babycenter.com is a very helpful website for me!

And I heard ginger is great for nausea (which fortunately, I didn’t have an issue with).

And if you are tired, by all means, rest!!

can so~ relate to “cheers to the love of fathers (and grandfathers!)” hehe… both my sisters are pregnant and my dad who’s retired gets the joy-slash-burden of looking for my sis’ cravings while their husbands are at work. 😀 haha…

Totally agree on the comment regarding children coming in God’s time. My husband and I planned to have kids as soon as we got married, and it took us 4 years, several OB visits, tons of tests, and lots of medication. September 2007, I gave up and finally said that if it’s God’s will that we don’t have children so be it. I found out I was pregnant on January 2008. And now, we have DA POGI JR who is simply a joy.

Take care of yourself. If you can take it easy from work, go do it. :) Take as much rest as you can. Remember, aside from sustaining your day to day activities, your body is also making a human being.

    God bless you.

    Amen to Miracles do happen!

As for food, I stopped watching Iron Chef America (which is one of my favorite shows) because I couldn’t stand the sight of food :)

I also hate the smell of garlic so whenever I ask my cook to make fried rice, it’s sans garlic. How weird is that? When I told my husband, “I want fried rice w/ no garlic.” he didn’t know what to do! Hehe!
