Painting with Cars

PAINTING WHEELS
{Fun afternoon activity}

Painting with cars is good fun! My boy prefers to play with cars than sit down for arts and crafts, so why not make a match? One Sunday afternoon we did some painting with cars.

PAINTING WITH CARS
{Pick your wheels and paint away!}

All you’ll need are paints (we used acrylics), a paintbrush, paper or canvas to paint on, newspaper to protect your tabletop and toy cars that can afford a splash of paint (translated: no collectible toys please!).

PAINTING BOY
{Notice the look of utter concentration on Timmy’s face}

First, you paint the wheels. Cover all four wheels with paint. Sometimes my son would do the wheel painting, most timeS I would. He preferred the painting with the toy itself.

PAINTING VROOM
{Vroom!}

Next step, place the car on the canvas and roll away! Press down for different paint intensities. Make the car go lef, right, diagonal, up, down! Make the truck swerve, jump! Try different cars with different wheel patterns. Go for different colors per track. Have fun!

PAINTING WIP
{Blue and Yellow, Left and Right!}

This is the finished product. See the different colors we used? We used only one car for all those different colors. This painting now hangs in our sunroom, giving the room an added splash of vibrance.

PAINTING PROPS
{Timmy’s Painting with Cars Artwork}

Last year, we also painted using cars and animal toys. Try different patterns! Look around your child’s toy cabinet and see what awesome stuff you can make paintings with. Painting with cars is one way for Timmy to discover how much he can create with paint. We’re looking forward to our next painting afternoon!

    Where do you buy canvas? Did you frame this painting? :-)

      We bought our canvas from National Bookstore! They have all sizes. Nope, we didn’t frame the painting anymore when we put it on the wall!

    When repainting areas the same color as the existing paint job, have your paint color matched by finding the color code – usually located on the vehicle’s compliance plate – and take this information to an auto shop.
