Our Nighttime Lego Ritual

by

LEGO is a big part of Timmy’s childhood. He plays with both the big blocks and what we call the “big boy blocks” – the regular-sized Lego pieces. We mix up playtime with both and it’s always a lot of fun.

One bedtime ritual we enjoy is playtime to wind down. LEGO is also a part of that. I get a kick out of Timmy’s creations, which are almost always animals. Here’s a pic of one playtime we had recently.

I love how Lego encourages kids to be so imaginative. When you’re playing LEGO with kids, you’re also encouraged to be as imaginative. Timmy says this is a lion. Roar!

LEGO IMAGINE

This one is Timmy’s rhinoceros or what he calls a “rhinonoceros”. See the horn?

LEGO IMAGINE 5

Oh wait, I think THIS is the lion. Or was this the giraffe? Uh-oh.

LEGO IMAGINE 4

This is Timmy’s hippo. I remember because of the smooth, curved back. :)

LEGO IMAGINE 3

He can create a whole LEGO safari in a matter of minutes. Sometimes it bums me out when we have to take them apart and pack them away because they’re so cute! But it’s fine because I’m assured that Timmy will have fun putting his LEGO creations together again the next time.

Did you play with LEGOs when you were a child? Do you play it with kids around your home too? Any playtime tips? Please do share!
