Lavender to calm the soul

by

Ah, lovely lavender. According to this resource (UMM), lavender comes from the Latin root lavare, meaning “to wash.” It was often used in baths to help purify body and spirit. Research also points to lavender providing sedative effects. The scent of lavender is so soothing!

These bath time treats from Healthy Options are my favorites, especially after a long day. All are lavender-scented and simply calming.

Summertime essentials

That’s Sonoma Soap Company’s Natural Daily Shampoo, Natural Daily Conditioner and Natural Bath & Shower Gel. I’ve been using them for a couple of months now and they’re my go-to bath partners. Maybe I’ve been in more need of de-stressing time the past months. Ha!

Divasoria recently interviewed me on her blog about my favorite personal care products. Check it out! Sonoma’s on the list and you’ll get to see a picture of my number one beauty product too. :)

Do you like lavender too? In what products do you enjoy the scent of lavender?

Oh, so that’s where you get those! Will check them out later. Lavender makes me sleepy. Haha. I love lavender-scented candles & oils, from Legazpi Sunday Market usually.

I love, love, love lavender. In addition to how it relaxes me when I put a few drops in my nightly bath, I love what a great job it does keeping mosquitoes away! I add a few drops to unscented body lotion and rub it on when I’m going to be sitting outdoors, and now I don’t get bit!

Lavender is probably my most favorite scent. It’s in season right in CA so the farmer’s markets have them in abundance. I actually bought some sachets and also a lavender bunch so I can make my own lavender vinegar. L’Occitane made this lavender vinegar that seriously takes away blemishes (e.g. pimples). It really works!! I can’t wait until the vinegar gets fermented so I can try it out. You can also use it as a hair rinse, body splash, laundry rinse and air freshener. The best part is, it’s so easy! I just cut the lavender buds, along with the stems, and add vinegar. I used datu puti. I put them in mason jars. They say to leave it for a week so I’ll do that.
