Austenland: From Book to Movie

by

Shannon Hale's AustenlandAustenland was one of my favorite books in 2008. It’s a book about 32-year-old single Jane Hayes and her love for Jane Austen’s work. She’s especially in love with one character in particular — Mr. Darcy. She gets to bring her Austen obsession to life when a great-aunt gives her an all-expenses-paid vacation to Pembrook Park, a resort where the guests dress, think, and act the way characters do in Austenโ€™s books. Jane dives into the fantasy turned reality, immersing herself in corsets, Mr. Darcy and all. (Read my 2008 entry about Austenland!)

The book just got better this year though. Can you guess why? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Austenland is now a movie!

This light-hearted romance can be enjoyed on the big screen soon! The book was a fun read. It would be awesome to see how this translates to a movie!

Austenland: Official Trailer

Austenland stars Keri Russell, JJ Feild, and Jennifer Coolidge. Jane Seymour’s in the cast too! Its IMDB rating is a tad low — 5.6 out of 10 stars to-date. I’ll go see it anyway! I’m hoping it makes its way to Manila soon. I’m hoping the movie will be as fun, if not even more fun, than the book!

Have you read Austenland yet? If you haven’t, go get a copy! It’s a fun read. It may even get you interested in the world of Jane Austen. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    I’m, uhm… 36% into Pride & Prejudice and then got distracted by 5 other books I’m trying to read… Tsk tsk… ๐Ÿ˜€

Haha I went through P&P and Persuasion so quickly I can’t recall the details! Must begin re-reading Jane Austen. Maybe after I see the film I’ll be back in Austen reading mode.

I read about this movie from another blog I visit. I love Keri Russell! I haven’t heard about the book but now I think I’ll download! It seems that it may only be shown in selected screens but I’m willing to wait for the DVD or blu-ray.

Me too! Love Keri Russell! Go read the book, yes, yes. It was a fun, light read. A good beach read or lazy weekend read.
