Starr’s Famous Shakes

by

STARR’S Famous Shakes — have you tried this milkshake place? My dear friend Jenn (The Techie Mom) and I were due for a much-belated reunion. When Starr’s opened up near where we both lived, we knew it was the perfect place to catch up. We got a cozy corner table and told stories to our hearts’ content while sipping on our delicious shakes.

The Don Antonio branch of Starr’s Famous Shakes is quite cozy. This is the view from our corner booth. You’ll see that as soon as you step in, the order counter is on the left. That’s where you’ll see the menu and the display of toppings and mix-ins you can have with your shake.

Colorful paintings decorate the place. I was wishing it had a more ’80s vibe, as I was being transported back to when I was a kid. I remembered the Chok’lit Shoppe of Pop Tate’s where Archie and the Gang would hang out a lot. The corner booth near the Katy Perry portrait is where Jenn and I had our Mommy milkshake date.

Starr’s is a great place to hang out.

If I say Horlicks, you say…? If you thought “childhood” then we’re probably from the same generation. Jenn and I both got the RETRO MALT shake. It’s got Horlicks powder mixed in it. Just one sip and I was thrown back to my kiddie days. I used to enjoy nibbling on Horlicks candy. When it was no longer sold here in the Philippines, it broke my kiddie heart. That’s why when I saw Horlicks powder on the counter of Starr’s, I felt my 8-year-old heart was made whole again. Haha!

Starr’s Retro Malt Milkshake was so thick and yummy!
You can have your milkshake in different ways when at Starr’s. First choice: You can create your own milkshake. That means choosing from the different base milkshakes they have (we like strawberry!), then adding in mix-ins or toppings which range from nuts (ex. candied walnuts, almonds), chocolates and candies (whipped cream, Oreo, Baby Ruth, etc.), fruits (grilled banana, frozen chocolate bananas, etc.) and baked goodies (brownies, cheesecake, red velvet, etc.). Second choice: You can order their VIP Milkshakes, and your choices are a little bit fancier like Bubble Gum, Cherry Amaretto, Drunken Caramel, Mixberry and Banana (My husband loved this one from our first visit to Starr’s!), and lots more. They also serve yogurt milkshakes. Check out the Starr’s Menu below!

Jenn and I wanted to get some Starr’s Snacks, but they weren’t available yet! We met at 10 am, and snacks would only be available 11 am onwards. Oh darn. I wanted to get Corn Dogs and Onion Rings. Next time then!
