Smoked Salmon Appetizers

Appetizers Appetizers 2

This is one of the simplest appetizers to make and one of the most delicious! These were prepared by my Aunt and myself. I don’t know which was more fun — exchanging stories with my Aunt while preparing these babies, or consuming each appetizer with much gusto!

Slice a baguette into diagonal pieces. Toast until almost golden brown. Cover each piece with smoked salmon, then smear with a slice of cream cheese, and top with a slice of baby cucumber. You can add a little bit of dill or chives as well for garnishing. Done! Make sure you get several servings out to your guests before you end up eating a whole platter. :)

Egg mayo can also be substituted for cream cheese. Masarap din.

Hmmm di ko pa nata-try din yan. I haven’t combined egg mayo and salmon before. Sounds interesting though.

my brother, who lives in canada, catches his own fish, mostly salmon and smokes them with a smoker that he built himself. he digs for clams and plucks oysters that he serves to us with beer whenever we visit. more than a few times, I had gone out with him in his small boat to catch crabs which we cooked for dinner that same evening. his friend and hunting buddy has a small plane that they fly to almost the end of the earth to hunt for moose or elk. last week, they bagged a huge moose.

he likes to say that he only eats fresh food, but I think he’s just a cheapskate.

this post reminds me of my brother, his family and the times I sat at their table. and the best smoked salmon anywhere.

That sounds like quite a culinary adventure! Thanks for sharing that trip down memory lane with us. :)

Looks really yummy. I will try that.

I remember doing a spread/dip version last Christmas. I simply mixed cream cheese and smoked salmon and then served in a small dish in the middle of plate full of various crackers.

Pwede rin yan! I love that idea. Thank you!

I just loooove smoked salmon. I can actually eat a whole plate of it. Kawawa nga ang mga buffet eaters sa akin kasi inuubos ko talaga yan. You know you can also use sour cream and chives and add some capers to them. Yummy!! Gagawin ko talaga ito. Thanks Toni :)

Ay sarap naman ng tips na yan. Sige I will try it with sour cream and chives and capers and oh my oh my oh my!

I love smoked salmon and cream cheese anythings. My favorite has to be a bit of romaine dabbed with cream cheese and some smoked salmon then rolled up and tied with some fresh spring onion. The spring onion adds a nice bite that neutralizes whatever fishiness there may be. I like it so much, ginawa ko syang masthead ng site ko, hahahaha!

Ooh ooh ooh! I want to try that style of yours with the romaine lettuce. W00000000t! Love it love it love it! Thanks for the tip!

I’m at work, and I’m just salivating on the photo. I might have to take lunch early today. I hope you’re well and the family too.

They’re great aren’t they? How I wish I could have one at this very moment!

Yummy appetizer! I’m sure my hubby can easily consume a dozen of that. He loves salmon.

And how about you? 😀 I used to NOT like salmon. I thought it was too fishy, and that there was an aftertaste. It was only recently that I learned to appreciate it! This appetizer made me love salmon more now.
