Orange Again!? / Cleaning Q&A

by

I had another happy trip to Cost U Less. This time, I brought my whole family and we had a blast looking through all the cleaning materials. Yes, we are a quirky family.

Even if it was Mother’s Day, my Mom gave me a cleaning product treat. See, I really wanted to get this one product but I didn’t budget for grocery shopping yesterday. I just wanted to share Cost U Less with them. But my Mom saw how much I wanted to get this one product so she told me she’d get it for me. Ta-da!

Yes, I am an OC addict — an Orange Clean addict (and yes, a little bit Obsessive-Compulsive too). I tried it out this morning by wiping some greyish stuff of my kitchen tiles and it was so effective. Great, great, great!

I’ve figured out a system. I use my Clorox Wipes on a daily basis for disinfecting. I keep two containers of Clorox Wipes outside at all times — one for the bathroom (to wipe the toilet seat and faucet after each use as much as possible), one for the kitchen/dining room. This Orange Clean Spray I’ll use once a week since our place isn’t really greasy and grimey.

~*~*~*~

I’ve been asked, “Why don’t you use a rag with soap and water/disinfectant? Aren’t Wipes and using paper towels expensive?”

Fair questions. First, I don’t use a rag with soap and water because they can breed bacteria if you use it the wrong way. You can avoid this of course with proper handling — washing the rag after each use, making sure it’s dry when you keep it, etc., but I don’t want to risk it. I also have the tendency to forget things easily so I am so sure I’ll forget about a wet rag after I use it. And you know how stinky wet rags can get. Blech. So I’m fine with paper towels and disposable rags.

Second, yes, using these Wipes and paper towels can be quite costly. Everything lies of course in learning how to use it efficiently. With paper towels, I fold a paper towel square and then wipe. When the wiping side is dirty, I fold the paper towel again so the dirty side’s covered, and I use the clean side again. I fold it again and again till the paper towel’s too small to use already.

Overall, it’s about convenience for me. Try whatever works for you. One person’s system differs from another!

I saw this website on Orange Clean products and oooh boy, don’t I want all those things.

Have a great week everyone!

Hi Toni! You just made me more curious than ever. I am scheduled to go to Cost U Less this week and I will grab myself some of the Orange Wipes. I am quite satisfied with the Clorox Wipes, but since you have been raving about its “staining removing powers,” you have convinced me to try it! Will send you some feedback!

We have Orange Power brand here. I’ve been seeing them in the supermarket and didn’t really took notice of them. Whe I did my grocery shopping a fortnight ago I bought a bottle of their Orange Power Shower, Bath and Tile Cleaner. Tried it and now I am a convert. So much so that I will purchase a 5 litre bulk pack. Comes up soo much cheaper when you buy in bulk. The 750 ml is not enough for me. I need more! I even bought the Orange Power Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner, have’nt tried it yet. But I bet it works as well. My next buy would be the Orange Power Multipurpose Cleaner and Sanitiser. The brand is Australian made and owned so it’s good for the economy. Salamat sa tip.

Although this cleaner is quite good, I still prefer to use natural cleaners when cleaning my tiles. A mild solution of baking soda and water works wonders on old stains, and if you add a few drops of lemon juice, you will have a fully sanitised tile floor.
