Mommy stress: Mismatched earrings & other funny incidents

by

Mommy stress can be so tough on the soul! I try to find humor in it so the negativity doesn’t weigh me down. Truth is, if you find yourself having gone to work in these… well, you really can’t help but laugh.

Level of stress. Came to work wearing this. Naman! Mommy stress.
What a pair they make!

My officemate and I had a good laugh about it. We were talking about a project when I began tugging on one earring. That’s a habit I have when thinking. I tugged on the left earring… then on the right… then I thought “Oh no! Did the blue circles fall off one earring?!” I hurriedly took them both off and laid them on our conference table. Voila. Mismatched madness.

***

Has this ever happened to you? I once went to work wearing my shirt with the wrong side in front. I was wondering why there was an itchiness on the front of my neck. Lo and behold, it was the tag of my shirt! I immediately rushed to the ladies’ room to turn it right-side front!

***

Another time, I was walking around the house thinking of my usual to-do list. I began wondering why I seemed to be walking in a not-so-balanced way. Ta-da! I was wearing mismatched flip-flops. A beige slipper on my left foot, a navy blue one on my right. Ayayay!

***

These don’t frequently happen but the fact is they DO happen. And it’s okay. I try not to beat myself up about it (because sometimes I do). For as long as the lapses aren’t harmful to yourself or your family, AND aren’t frequent, I guess they’re normal. It’s all part of Mommy stress. I’m certain there’s a lot on your minds!

Meanwhile, I will need to take extra caution when getting dressed. The last thing I’d want to happen is to turn up at work wearing mismatched earrings, my shirt wrong-side front and mismatched shoes. Now THAT’d be super stressful… and super funny too!

Have you experienced anything similar? I’d love to know I’m not alone in this madness! :)

This has been happening to me quite often. Haha! I’ve come out of the unit with just tsinelas en route to work. I’ve worn shirts inside out (para di mawala at iligaw ng tikbalang. Haha!). Left my phone, left my ID, left my wallet. But at least, Alon and I get to keep our morning ritual more or less. I just often forget to keep to my own. 😛

this is such a hilarious post toni! and something i can super relate to. but i guess these things happen to remind us there’s always something to laugh about despite the over the top stresses we come across every day.

Exactly, Faye! Instead of getting stressed out, choose to look at the funny side 😛
