Mahjong-Themed Birthday Party

by

Mahjong birthday! H’s grandmother celebrated her 90th birthday last June. She loves the color green and, you guessed it, mahjong! Check out how her love of the game was reflected in her birthday festivities:

Mah jong cupcakes.

Mahjong Cupcakes

These chocolate cupcakes were so delicious. They were made more festive with these characters from mahjong tiles. Awesome, right?

But wait! There’s more mahjong goodness…

Macaroons. Bunot!

Mahjong Macaroons

Macaroons are also given the motif with these character signs again. (Anyone want to throw me 3 sticks?) But wait till you see the birthday cake…

Mah jong cake.

Mahjong Table + Tiles = Best Birthday Cake Ever for Taima

I spy a Pong! See how this cake looks like a mahjong table? Super cute. The tiles are all edible, even the dice. Doesn’t it just want to make you reach over and wash the tiles? Eat one while you’re at it.

Taima really enjoyed it. Here she is by her birthday cake as friends and family sing her the birthday song.

Happy birthday Mama!

Happy 90th Birthday, Taima!

Now here she is handing the mahjong tiles to her mahjong mates! I told you they were edible. They make pretty good souvenirs too for her co-players.

Puro na ba?

Thanks to my cousins in Cebu for making this party rock! I love how the snacks reflected our grandmother’s love for the game without going overboard. The question is: Did Taima go play mahjong after the party? I’m sure she did. I bet all the good vibes from the party made her a big winner too!

What’s your favorite game?

I love The Sims, but that may be a little too complicated for a birthday party theme. Or maybe not! We could all wear PlumbBob headbands and speak in Simlish. Awesome. What’s your favorite game? Would you consider making a theme out of it for a party? 😉

Monopoly-themed party! I love it. I’ll hang out in Boardwalk all day. Hehehe. It would be awesome, Patty, to have this theme. Think how the whole party area could be divided by the properties. From the Baltic slums to the posh Boardwalk. Heehee. Cute!
