Looking for the perfect fruitcake

by

Are you one of the few people who like fruitcake? If yes, why hello there dear friend! There’s not a lot of us who enjoy fruitcake. My friends used to kid around that there’s only one block of fruitcake in the city and that it’s passed from person to person. Nobody likes fruitcake, that was their theory. Well, I like fruitcake. Christmas is not Christmas without fruitcake, so I had my fill of this sweet and intoxicating dessert this month.

The thing is the fruitcakes I’ve tried this season were just okay. Some were too sweet and lacked that signature brandy taste. Others were too strong on alcohol and weren’t aged properly yet.

Do you have any fruitcake recommendations? I would LOVE to read them. The season isn’t over yet. The new year’s festivities are still coming up! What does that mean? More room for fruitcake! Well, more room for our little club of fruitcake lovers. So please leave a comment if there’s a fruitcake brand you think is absolutely worth tasting. You’ll make this fruitcake searcher very happy.

I love fruitcake but like you I don’t know where to get it. That’s why we don’t have that in our dining table this Chirstmas. I think the best I had was when my in-law gave us a fruitcake from their Christmas party. It doesn’t have a brand on the packaging and it’s a giveaway from Malacanang (under GMA). He’s a retired PSG officer.

I’m not a big fan of fruitcake. But panettone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panettone) passes for a fruitcake to me and I love it. I started making it a regular on my Holiday table.

Hoped you had a wonderful Christmas. Peace and good health this coming year.

Not a huge fan of fruitcakes here, I don’t think it suits me right, but just the same, if it comes as a gift, i am fine with it.

You’re the only person I know who can be my fruitcake-loving soulmate. I would appreciate any leads too!

Panettone is delicious (I like it a lot too!) but it’s not the same.

My hubby’s grandma lovingly makes more about 100 fruitcakes every year to give away to her family and friends. She’s 76 years old and very proud of her fruitcake. I’d like to share one with you. Please email me.

I love, love, love Collin Street Bakery’s DeLuxe Fruitcake! It’s more nutty than cakey and it’s just so festive!
