January

It’s tough to jump back on the blog wagon. It’s not like I’ve been meaning to blog and just didn’t have the time. I just didn’t feel like writing. That’s a sign of a tired soul, a weary mind. It feels good to reconnect with the keyboard though and feel the clickety-clack of QWERTYs beneath my fingers, have the screen light up the room again. It feels good to write again. So here I am.

Let’s talk New Year’s resolutions, none of which I have. “Resolution” sounds so intimidating.

Instead there are things I want to do more of this year. It sounds more enjoyable thinking about it that way.

2013

My interest in cooking disappeared after I gave birth. I still love watching cooking shows (Top Chef woot woot!) and reading cook books, but the kitchen and I have long been estranged. I’d love to change that this year, so getting reacquainted with pots, pans and the heat of the stove is something I’m looking forward to. Maybe I’ll start small — a fried egg, a simple stir-fry, then work my way up.

What’s key across all these 2013 actions points I have for myself is that I enjoy them. I don’t want to be ticking off a to-do list. It’s not a grocery list or a projects list. It’s a list of things to make 2013 more enjoyable! :)

Reading fell through the cracks too. This January I’ve finished two books — City of Bones by Cassandra Clare (which apparently has been turned into a movie) and This is How You Lose Her by Junot Diaz. Two good books = a good start!

Playing was big in 2012, and I’d still want to play a LOT this 2013. It’ll be a challenge as I go back to corporate and do the 9 to 5 schedule again, so it’s gonna be interesting to see how playtime will take shape this year. Playtime is not just spending fun time with my family, but doing fun things I enjoy doing for myself. Blogging is a part of my personal playtime.

And so I’m skipping, hopping, jumping my way back into the blog wagon. Thanks for sticking around and still reading. It does feel good to write again.
