How do you unwind?

by

Come sit down a bit and tell me — how do you unwind?

It’s been a really crazy week. I didn’t feel the 3-day weekend. This week, I left for work before the sun came out and would leave work when the stars were out. Basically, I had absolutely no dose of Vitamin D from the sun this week. Craziness.

This week was also the week when Timmy started getting up in the morning earlier than usual, watch me prepare for work and hold on to me oh so tightly, crying and begging me to stay home. Oh how my heart breaks everytime he does that.

So yeah, it’s been a really tough week. How was yours?

How do you unwind?

Monday was so tough I ended the day with a Whiskey Sour.
And I don’t even drink.

I ask again: How do you unwind?

Do you go online and surf the net? Do you grab a cup of coffee, escape to a quiet corner in a coffee shop and catch up on reading? Do you party with friends till the wee hours of the morning? Do you hide under the covers and catch up on much-needed sleep?

I usually play The Sims 3 to unwind. But since my personal computer conked out two weeks ago, I had to resort to other ways. So I went back to reading again, since I went on a little pause mid-August. Too much stress. But I’m back on reading mode, thank goodness.

The Whiskey Sour picture above — I don’t usually drink alcohol. I can’t even recall the last drop of alcohol I had before the whiskey sour. But my sister was making one at that time and she asked me, “Do you want a taste of my whiskey sour or you want your own?” Without hesitation, I said “I want my own!” One was enough.

Another way I unwind is to write. But I’ve been so busy I haven’t even had time for that!

This week has been so crazy, but the truth is, it’s been mighty productive. Sometimes you have just to reframe how you’re looking at things so you don’t get pulled down too much.

Life is pretty awesome.

Because yeah, no matter how busy you are, it’s ultimately YOUR choice whether you get sucked into the vortex of self-pity and misery. OR you get sucked in a little bit (that’s permissible) but pull yourself out and chill. Sometimes with a Whiskey Sour (which I quite enjoyed).

So yeah. Life is pretty awesome. Chuck the to-do lists for now. It’s a Friday night. The to-do list can wait till Monday.

For now, we unwind.

Been pushing myself too hard these days too, I know. And haven’t been reading enough to keep my sanity, so I’m getting cranky na. Must really find time soon! ASAP! :)

Unwind?! Hahaha! I guess for a mom like me who does all the household chores, the only “unwinding” time for me is every night after I have taken a shower, go to bed, either read a book, play with plants vs Zombies 2 (which I am currently addicted to), or write what’s on my mind. I guess these things will work. Hehehe! Happy Friday to you.

I had a tough week last week as well. As mothers, it’s tough to unwind because you’re constantly thinking of what to do next but for me, it’s probably watching an episode or two of my favorite show, reading a book or going to Spin class. :) Actually, the Spin class I usually do twice a week when I work from home so it’s a good way to energize yourself and not worry about mommy duties.

I should find my equivalent of your spin class. I’ve been thinking about going back to the gym. It’s remained in my head only though, har har!

Laundry days/nights have been my unwind/relax/reflect time especially when I became a mom. Watching the clothes whirl somehow makes my mind free from all worries, fears and piles of things to do at home and work. But I’m still looking forward to reading (books or e-books) as my ultimate unwind time.

The laundry calms me too! I like hearing it whirl, but my son gets annoyed by the sound. Haha. Reading is still my ultimate unwind time, just like you. Here’s to more reading time for us!

Hope you had a lovely weekend where you got to rest and spend some downtime with your family. And may this week be a bit easier for you. :)

    How do I unwind?

I take a walk, Lots of it! I sometimes go to some place where I can walk and do a bit of sightsee after work. If I don’t have the luxury of outdoor walking, I have a treadmill at home where I walk/briskwalk/jog while watching TFC or listening/singing along to music.

I cook! I find that on some days, cooking up a dish helps me in getting rid of stressed nerves. Being in my kitchen gives me comfort while I create something yummy and have a drink of wine.

My weekend was so lovely I didn’t want it to end! Thank you for asking.

This week is looking to be even more stressful than last week, but I’m facing it with a big smile and a steel heart. Haha!

Thanks for sharing how you unwind. I should go on more walks like you. What’s keeping me from walking is the amount of work. But yes, you’re right, that will help me unwind indeed!
