Good night sleep tight! Don’t let the bed bugs bite!

by

Good night sleep tight dear world! We kicked off the week with a blog post on what we look forward to on Mondays (Monday Happiness). It’s finally Friday and I can’t wait to end the week! Friday nights for this Mommy aren’t for girls’ night outs or bar-hopping. It’s for cuddling in bed with my boys and leafing through books that have been parked on our bedside table.

Our Bedside Table

Our bedside table is a hodgepodge of things that are mine and Timmy’s. To the left is his basket of kid supplies — powders, lotions, nappies, wipes. If this table were clear of books, there’d be the picture frame in the middle, which holds a baby picture each of my husband, Timmy and myself. Then there’d be our trusty clock, dropped on the floor a gazillion times but still alive and ticking. At the end would be the light that makes our room extra cozy, a simple lamp with an awesome, warm yellow glow.

It’s usually clear at the start of the week, when I’d get to declutter the room. Towards the end of the week, Fridays in particular, it looks like what’s pictured above.

I wouldn’t have it any other way. :)

There are books we’d be reading in the middle of the week, then come back to the following nights. Instead of putting them back on the shelves, we’d just place them here for easier access.

You also see here various drinks — water bottles and a mug of tea which hydrate us in the evenings and give us our first refreshment upon waking up.

That’s where I put my eyeglasses before going to sleep.

At the back is a red bottle which holds bubble liquid, a reminder of a weekend activity to come.

Good night sleep tight!

When the ceiling light goes off, the lamp goes on. For the three of us in the room, it’s the sign that we have to start winding down. No more gadgets, no more jumping around. It’s time to snuggle up and cuddle under the sheets. It’s time for bed. “Good night sleep tight!,” we’d whisper to one another. Then we’d all snuggle in a tangle of arms and legs, without worries of waking up early the next day, without worries that an alarm would break our loving slumber.

This is what I look forward to on Fridays. This is why I can’t wait for the week to end!

Such a sweet, family routine. My youngest is now 8 years old. I am so glad I still have that routine. =>
