Enjoying dried mangoes and a chocolate fountain

by

Dried mangoes are delicious on their own but when dipped in melted chocolate, they become snacks that are sinfully, deliciously addicting.

I love dried mangoes.

At my great-grandmother’s birthday, dried mangoes were part of the snack buffet. (I love Cebu!) On that same snack buffet, there was a chocolate fountain. Now, the chocolate fountain and the plate of dried mangoes were on opposite ends of the table. Ergo, these dried mangoes weren’t meant for dipping. See here:

Happy 90th, Mama!

However, as I was walking from one end of the table towards the other, letting the fountain’s milk chocolate drizzle on the dried mango made absolute, perfect sense.

This makes absolute sense.

Believe me when I say I was getting butterflies in my stomach and that I was salivating at this point. I couldn’t wait to taste this sweet-sour-salty concoction. The chocolate fountain dripped slowly on my dried mango piece. As the warm chocolate coated one tip of the dried mango, I knew that once again, this snack made absolute, perfect sense.

Dried mango + melted chocolate = GAH <3

You know you want a bite. I sure did. It was so delicious. The sweet creaminess of the warm, melted chocolate went so well with the slightly tangy, sweet dried mango. I went for seconds, thirds and fourths, swearing that once I came back to Manila I’d enjoy this lovely snack.

My son doesn’t liked dried mangoes, but he did see me going nuts by the fountain. He left my side while I was munching on a chocolate-covered dried mango and did this without noticing that I was taking his pictures. Sneaky boy! :)

Let's try a cracker...
He went for his favorite crackers.

What will happen if I put this here?
Mimicking Mommy.

Yummeh.
Yum. He went back for seconds, thirds and fourths as well.

Like Mommy, like son. :) Would you like to try this delicious snack, too? You can totally enjoy this at home. Get some melting chocolate or a pure chocolate bar (like Cadbury), melt in a saucepan on a stove top or in the microwave. Grab a pack of dried mangoes and dip to your heart’s desire. This is best enjoyed when the chocolate is still slightly warm.

Then I guess you’ve heard about the “Belgian Chocolate-Dipped Dried Mango”? If not, I think you’re gonna love it. Here’s what a picture I found of it : http://inst.ag/u/divasoria/p/XrVlAPCj-Y/

Ryan: The snack tastes better if the chocolate’s still warm 😉

Those dried mangoes look so good and different from the ones you find in supermarkets. Would you know the brand? : ) Congratulations on your new look!
