How to create an inspiring workspace

by

How to create an inspiring workspace is easier than you think! Never mind the drab white table, steel dividers and grey accents. You can put some personality and a happy vibe wherever you work!

Here’s how my workspace looks like:

How to create an inspiring workspace

I have three simple guidelines on how to create an inspiring workspace:
1. Display items that motivate you.
2. Have a plant for company.
3. Keep it neat.

In my case, these are the things in my workspace that inspire me:

1. Display items that motivate you.
Behind my laptop are a bunch of Timmy’s artwork. I love looking at his childhood creations. They make me happy. They keep me grounded. I also have a calendar of his school activities posted. The days when I want to be in school are highlighted in yellow. These days are program days, parent-teacher conferences, field trips, etc. It always helps me keep in perspective. I’m a Mom before anything else! :)

Don’t forget your computer’s wallpaper! I have a quote displayed: “Every moment is a moment of choice.” It’s a quote I learned from my FLEX workshop. I super love this quote! Very inspiring and again, it keeps me grounded.

2. Have a plant for company.
My officemate Mick gave this cute cactus to me for my birthday. I love having this on my desk! Plants in your workspace are good for your health. It’s just also inspiring to have a little life in the workspace, you know? Plus, looking at something green after spending some time on your computer is good for your eyes too. It doesn’t hurt that my plant comes in a cute kitty mug.

3. Keep it neat.
It’s hard to think with a messy desk. Keeping your workspace clean and organized can help you become more productive. It works for me! I just have a few things on my desk – my laptop, my plant, a pen, a pad of paper and my work phone. The rest I put in my desk cabinet.

I like having a mood board. I have too many ideas in my head that I need a place to dump it on and then sort out when I have use for that certain idea.

Is it a mood board online or one where you cut pics from magazines?

I could never, for the life of me, never keep my desk clean. Hehehe! My table, my board is one big clutter. During the rare times that it’s neat, it lasts for about a day then back to the usual clutter. Hehe! We have a team plant which thankfully is not under my care or else RIP na sya. Buti I still get work done. Haha!

Your cactus is indeed lovely though. And you’ve always been organized. Perfect for your work! Haha! Kaya siguro emergency-related ang work ko… making it up as I go along. Hahaha!
