Chaikofi

As promised, I’m writing about my delightful morning at Chaikofi. My dearest friends Tin and Kiran were raving about this place one time, and I was intrigued! When my family and I visited Mall of Asia a few weekends ago, it was a must for us to try out the restaurant.

A Morning at Chaikofi

Upon entering Chaikofi, we were immediately charmed by the warmth of the place and the quaint decor. Ths silver, grey, dark brown, yellow and maroon colors were the perfect shades to help relax us tired shoppers. I loved the wall decor — yellow flying teapots!

Morning at Chaikofi 2

My family and I settled into a cozy booth with this yellow flower set in coffee beans to keep us company. After the waitress took our orders, we explored the second floor and discovered an even cozier place. There was a mosaic and masks to jazz up the walls. It was very, very charming! The second floor area would be perfect for intimate gatherings.

Tea for Two

My Mom ordered Chai. High expectations were set because of the restaurant’s name! Sadly, we were disappointed. The tea was more milk than spice in flavor. I missed the little kick this spiced tea usually has. My sister loved it though, since she likes her teas on the milky side. So for you tea-milk-combo lovers, you’ll probably enjoy this one!

Let's eat!

Now on to the food! My Mom ordered a pastrami panini. It was so-so. The meat strips were drowned by the thick slices of bread! Having a more generous amount of pastrami would have made her meal experience better. H ordered the ham and cheese panini. It was very good. He also ordered Pesto. Delicious!!! While the pesto sauce was ceamy, it wasn’t overwhelming. I will order that next time.

My sister got the Sate Babe (Pork Sate?) and she enjoyed it a lot. I got the house specialty as recommended by the waitress. It was called Captain’s Pot Fried Chicken. It was alright but I wondered why it was the house specialty, really. Good thing there was peanut sauce to accompany the dish. It perked the chicken flavor up. Of course when I shared this with my family, we found out my sister’s Sate Babe was served with gravy! I think our sauces were switched.

After the meal, my Mom ordered Viennese coffee and I got the Mountain something coffee (sorry, I can’t remember the exact name!). Both were fantastic. I savored every drop of my coffee.

Overall, it was a great experience. I’m looking forward to trying more of their pasta dishes and there other panini variations. I’m also excited to try out their other teas and coffees. Most of all, I’m looking forward to relaxing in their cozy abode. It is the perfect place to either kick off your shopping at MoA, or to escape the crowds and unwind. Whatever your objective is, you’ll most definitely fall under Chaikofi’s charms.

Chaikofi is located at the Ground Floor, North Wing side of SM Mall of Asia.
