Before Sunset

by

Julie Delpy’s A WALTZ FOR A NIGHT:

Let me sing you a waltz

Out of nowhere, out of my thoughts

Let me sing you a waltz

About this one night stand

You were for me that night

Everything I always dreamt of in life

But now you’re gone

You are far gone

All the way to your island of rain

It was for you just a one night thing

But you were much more to me

Just so you know

I hear rumors about you

About all the bad things you do

But when we were together alone

You didn’t seem like a player at all

I don’t care what they say

I know what you meant for me that day

I just wanted another try

I just wanted another night

Even if it doesn’t seem quite right

You meant for me much more

Than anyone I’ve met before

One single night with you little Jesse

Is worth a thousand with anybody

I have no bitterness, my sweet

I’ll never forget this one night thing

Even tomorrow, another arms

My heart will stay yours until I die

Let me sing you a waltz

Out of nowhere, out of my blues

Let me sing you a waltz

About this lovely one night stand.

Whenever someone praises Before Sunset, I feel so happy. Haha! I feel like I own the movie or something. I’ve always been an Ethan Hawke fan (even bought one of his books) and I have to say, this one’s my favorite Ethan movie. After this comes Before Sunrise of course.

For those who didn’t like it, it’s okay. We’re a mixture of realists, idealists, etc. Skeptics even. Some say “WHAT?! That whole thing can happen in 2 hours?” Yeah, why not? I’m an optimistic realist. That’s no oxymoron. It CAN work both ways you know.

Even though I don’t have “that someone who got away,” I could relate to what Celine and Jesse were feeling. Love is a feeling anyone can relate to in any form. Unrequited, requited.

I believe in love alright. I’ve always believed in it. I’ve always believed in the magic it holds, the charm it has. I should know. I got married to H one year after I met him. Love knows no logic.

It took me awhile but I just watched both movies back-to-back and I can’t get them out of my head. Thank you for providing the lyrics. Such a beautiful song, beautiful movies.
