7 rules and a book

by

The Unspoken Rules of our Home:

1. If you plug it in, you’re responsible for unplugging it.

2. Whoever gets out of bed last has to fix the bed.

3. If you cook the meal, the other washes the dishes.

4. If you cook the meal, the other sets the table.

5. If you cook a meal together, whoever does less work has to set the table and wash the dishes.

6. When cooking, unpacking things, or doing anything mess-related: Clean as you go.

7. Whoever takes a bath last has to turn the heater off.

Bookwork Alert!

I’ve finished The Time Traveler’s Wife and it was awesome. I will reread it someday. I’ve also finished all my chick lit books and have decided that my brain has had enough “girl talk, girl power” stories. I’ll rest from those books first. Next on my chick lit list is Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner. I’ll buy it once its paperback version comes out. I’m not into investing in hardbound chick lit books. Oh, do visit Jennifer’s blog. She has a quirky style to her blogging so it’s always fun to read – so are her previous books “In Her Shoes” and “Good in Bed”.

I’m currently reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad. I’ve seen this book on my Mom’s old bookshelf when I was a kid. I honestly thought it was a love story. Hey, the book was squeezed in between her Danielle Steel novels. It was only a couple of years back that I realized it was a book on being financially literate. Mr. Kiwosaki shares the lessons he learned from his two Dads – a rich one and a poor one. He does it in a storytelling manner so you get very involved in his explanations and reflections. It is not like an Accounting textbook that leaves you full of financial jargon, detached and later on, bored. (That’s how I experienced Accounting in college.) Rich Dad, Poor Dad is very interesting and I’m learning a lot from it. I just hope I do get to exercise whatever I’m learning. Worth the read guys, very much worth the read.

    toni,
thanks for visiting my site…kakatuwa naman ang 7 rules mo…me and my dh (darling husband) have this kind of arrangement too. siguro ganoon talaga especially if both of you work, kailangan mag-tulungan. ako i make it a point to go further:

laundry- whoever sorted the clothes and put them in the washer, will not be responsible for hanging them to dry.

folding clothes- whoever folds will not have to arrange them into the drawers

floors- whoever vacuums, will get to watch the other as HE mops the floor.

trash – recycle! MWF’s i dispose the garbage, on other days, he will have to do it.

grocery shopping- i shop, he carries.

minor repairs- whoever broke it, will be the one responsible to call the repair guy.

bank errands- money..money..money…i handle the finances! easier that way! (hehehe..)

    etc, etc…

sorry, i got carried away…feeling ko nag-blog na ako! and all i wanted to do is to express how happy i am to see another booklover! (ang layo, ano?!)

    anyweyz, have a great day!

Annanymous: Heehee. Thanks for your tips too! One of the best things about blogging is learning from others. Salamat sa pagshare!

Rick: Good advice! I don’t think the book is absolute and true. I’ll keep an open mind till I finish it. 😉 By the way, the URLs you shared don’t work!

Mec: Yup those rules help us avoid any petty quarrels. Every lil bit helps!

Oh, I loved The Time Traveller’s Wife. I started reading that book one evening and did not put the book down until I had read (and cried) through the final pages.

michele: It was amazing wasn’t it? I keep thinking this will be made into a movie someday. If ever it will be produced, I hope they keep the magic and mystery the book had!
